Spring is trying to sprung....lol
This project is the reason I haven't been on the site for a while. It's a big mat.
This how it all starts. With a big pile of cut up T's
A rough sketch and a way we go.
Sometimes it takes a really good imagination to figure out how it's all gonna end up looking.
It takes time to grow flowers here.
You might not be able to tell but I'm adding a bit of bead work in and there will be standing wool as well on this mat. There's still lots of pictures to come, I just haven't uploaded them yet.
I mentioned it was a big mat, but in reality it measures 26 X 33 inches. Which doesn't sound all that big until you have to hook every square inch of it...lol.
Here it is finally off the frame. My sister suggested calling it Flower Power..lol. An appropriate description! Still, it was the yearning for spring that inspired me to create this mat and to me it will always be 'Spring Flowers'
The fringing is well on it's way, it took almost an entire day to do half way down the length. The corners are the worst, twice as thick because of the hemming. One more shot to come and that will be when it's finished. This mat will be in it's new home in July.
It was June 21st 2009 when the last fringe went on the mat. The first day of summer...lol. No problem it can be either Spring Flowers or Summer Flowers, makes no difference. Just glad it's done and I can have a rest from hooking at least until Sept.
