The original 'What I'm At' page was pretty full and it was taking a long time to scroll down through it all so it will be continued here..
These next two sketches are just one with two different editing techniques. This is my niece Kimberly from Ont. looking very very Vogue. She likes to play with the camera too.
I like the spotlite effect. We could name them pillow shots since that's what she seems to be lying on...
A gorgeous young woman, it must run in the family...lol.
This was an attempt at Pearce's grand daughter
in Ontario. It's done on birchbark and was very difficult
to get the details right. As you can see it has buckled up
a bit which added even more distortion.. Oh well, I'll try
birch bark again but will concentrate more on scenery and
less on things with a lot of detail. Live and learn they say...
Here it is, my very first attempt at mat hooking, the old fashion way.
Was having a really difficult time with it until my friend Heather straightened me out via email. I've already started on a second one which will be much better. To see professionally done mats visit Heather's 'Flatrock Tickle Gallery' page.
I didn't have cash to go out and buy Pearce a birthday present this year so I painted up his axe handle. It was very difficult getting good shots of it. He's used to getting strange and unusual gifts from me. One year I bought him an expensive frying pan and a thick cut t-bone steak to go with it. He shook his head over that one but sure enjoyed the steak and is still using the frying pan to this day.
Here's me new kitchen mat! Still not up to Heather's standards but I'm ready to start on another one anyway...
I finished this next one in time for Good Friday and Easter Sunday I started another one. As long as the weather keeps on the cold side, I'll keep hooking, once it gets warm though I'll be onto other projects.
This one is fringed around the outside edge. I got a lot of compliments so I think I'll continue to use this technique for the finishing touch.
This one is very pretty and I just call it the 'Happy Mat', because of all the colors.
This project will show up in stages. It should take me a few years to complete it. It's going to be an area rug for the kitchen. Don't make wagers on when it will get done though..lol.
Another chunk done and I decided to go with the fringe for the edging...
With two huge windows this room never lacks light, at least through the day...
