in love with the rock

A day at Little Bay... Island that is.

Still looking for a boat we decided to check out a place called Little Bay Island. What a gorgeous community it is and so I decided to give it a page on the web site. We didn't find a boat but we sure enjoyed the scenery and plan to go back soon.
Have a look at the pictures and see if you agree that it is one of the prettiest places on earth.

We have to start with the ferry ride and all the ice bergs we passed along the way.

Just for fun this is the ticket. Pearce got the senior rate..lol. Technically you don't pay the ticket until the return trip but I thought it was a good way to start off...

This is the 'Inch Araan' and I'm not sure I spelled that right. It's a big ferry though and is capable of carrying a huge load.

There's a lot of iceberg pictures but they were just too beautiful to ignore.

You can see a lot icebergs on a 45 minute ferry ride.

They come in every shape and size..

This one looked different from every angle..

The little mound in the scoop of the iceberg has a seagull resting on it.

Everybody enjoyed the massive hunks of floating sculpture.

Here we're driving off the ferry and heading towards town which is about a five minute drive..

Now on to the town itself..

From across the bay it doesn't look like much..

This is the colorful Firehall/Town Council.

A house high up on the rocky shoreline is connected to the ocean by a million stairs. A lot of work for somebody.

This is the view from up behind the stairs. Nice to have your own little lighthouse..lol.

Realestate of a lesser value but still sitting pretty..

Even the dandelions look good in this place.

We were impressed by the driftwood pieces and got a real laugh out of the sign. It has lots of different names on it and at the bottom it says ' A bunch of crooks live here'.

A different angle. Lots of boats but none for sale.

These people take Christmas seriously, can you see the nativity scene under the veranda?

We hit the brakes when we passed this baby... lol.
You gotta love the name..

Time to catch the ferry back and here it is coming along side the iceberg.

And this is the last iceberg of the day which we saw from our own Long Island Road...

Hope you enjoyed these few shots of a wonderful day in Newfoundland.
